The Wat Rong Khun or white temple is the most unconventional temple in Thailand. It's outside of Chiang Rai in the north of the country. The temple is the work of one man, Chalermchai Kositpipat. He's one of the most known painters of Thailand and became famous when he was in charge of the interior of a buddhist temple in London.
On the photograph you can see the main building, which stands for heaven, the hands coming out of the ground on the right side symbolize hell. Inside the main chapel the paintings show some things that are negative in the world (even though you must look well to find the details): alcohol (a bottle of whisky), sex (a man and a women making love), capitalism & materialism (mobile phones, rolex watches), Terrorism and American imperialism (the World Trade Center in flames).
