During my week off in Cambodia i had the chance to go to Sihanoukville, the biggest beach resort in the country. The stormy weather didn't had an influence on the beauty of this beach, some kilometers outside Sihanoukville.

The ship was moving back and forth all the time. It wasn't easy to photograph it, but i think the result's there.

Sihanoukville has a population of around 160 000 inhabitants and can be crowded as visitor number have risen steadily in recent years. Luckely (or not?) there are no flights anymore between Siem Reap and Sihanoukville, so it's a nice 12 hour ride. The city is surrounded by white-sand beaches and undevelopped tropical islands. The name of the city is in honour of king Sihanouk. Today it's the only deep-water port of Cambodia, it got cut out of the jungle in the late 1950s.

Dank je Els :) Toen ik het strand zag 's morgens, had ik al de boot gezien in de verte en ik wist al dat ik er bij zonsondergang iets mee zou proberen.

Most people don't really come here, they stay in the more touristy areas. Let's say you got to rent a motorbike to come here or take a mototaxi... It's worth coming here anyway. Even stayed for a night.
