This photograph was taken at the entrance of Angkor Thom near the city Siem Reap, Cambodia. On most gates there is a row of 54 demons on one side and 54 Gods on the other. It's a motif taken from the story of the "Churning of the ocean of milk".

The city of Angkor Thom (Great Angkor or Great City) has an epic scale of 10 km˛ and was built by Angkor's greatest king, Jayavarman VII (1181-1219). At the city's height it may have supported a population of one million people in the surrounding region.

Nice picture. The statue look very "Oh yes I am cool!". There is calm feeling in this image, nice composition. What is this city's relation with Angkor Wat?

Angkor Wat, is the City(capital)-Temple, while Angkor Thom means the Big Capital or Big City... This was the very last Angkorian capital, made by Jayavarman the 7th. And it got attacked many times by the Siamese, from Ayuthaya in present day Thailand... And finally sacked in the 15th century if i remember well :)

In the end there are more than 100 temples in Angkor, and 44 which can be visited... And each with its own history. The temples date from the 9th to 14th century... Angkor Wat is just one of them, but the biggest and most famous.

Hot, hotter, hottest :)

The coldest you might have at night in 'winter' is 22-24°... If it is 28° during the day, i felt it as cold :) And it can go up till 36-42° in april-may.
